The photos depict Fordingbridge Junior school visiting Breamore Station on a “Rotary Local History Day” during 2011. This annual event was organised during Spring each year, forming part of the “Rotary School Local History Project”. Pupils would walk along Breamore, via various footpaths and the old train line, which eventually took them to Breamore Station. Here, the pupils used to be welcomed by Fordingbridge Rotarians who then showed them some video history and some old artefacts. The events were concluded with a discussion and question-time, thus completing the day-out for Fordingbridge Junior.
As a result of the success of this year’s and previous exhibitions, Fordingbridge Rotary have decided to make the Fordingbridge Model Railway Exhibition an annual event, rather that just once every two years.
The next exhibition will be held on Saturday 13th April 2019, so make a diary note.
The Fordingbridge Rotary Club has run the Summer Festival for the past nine years and has relinquished the Management of the event.
However we are pleased to announce that the Fordingbridge Events Group, set up to bring more “Zest” to the town, are taking up the management of the event.
Fordingbridge Rotary continue to be involved and are delighted to be included in the organising committee.
